Nicola Bird now lives and works as a visual artist in Harrogate, after returning from 7 years in New Zealand. Her work is inspired by the experience of being landscapes she knows well. Recent works are informed by a love of the Lake District, of long walks alone, absorbing the astonishing views, the play of light and the rich and changing colour pallet as the seasons turn.
Nicola’s work explores this experience, but is not directly representational. It is just as much about her response to media as the work evolves, how paint suggests its own way forward.
Nicola has also enjoyed teaching, both in Yorkshire and New Zealand.
