The region’s dramatic mountains, and serene lakes provide endless motivation for his work, which captures the mood and essence of these iconic surroundings.

His work is a celebration of colour and movement, informed by his travels on foot and by bike through the countryside. Living in Tickhill, South Yorkshire, Ian balances inspiration from his local surroundings with the rugged beauty of the Lake District. These influences converge in his paintings, which reflect the shifting interplay of light, weather, and season.

I’ve always had a passion for art, after inheriting an old set of oils from a Great Uncle I began painting in my early teens but with a growing family and a busy job art had to take a back seat. Fast forward to 2020, the covid pandemic, and a realisation that life is short, I left behind a 35-year career in the food industry to follow my dream, to focus full time on art and become an artist. A monumental, life changing decision!
