Fairfield over to St Sundays Crag
‘Fairfield over to St Sundays Crag’ is an original oil painting by Cumbrian artist Maria Burton.
Wooden ash frame. On canvas, no glass.
in the artist’s words: “The view from Fairfield - across Cofa Pike to St Sunday CragIt is a long, horseshoe route from near Rydal and Grasmere, stretching high with views from the Langdales to Ullswater. Cofa Pike presents a small test of nerve en route from Ullswater to reach Fairfield and as the sun moves in the sky, the shadows make the form dramatic. The backdrop of lower fellsides, walled and full of fauna, creates a tapestry which, for the autumn and winter months, can burn with warm oranges, ochres and siennas as bracken and leaves give away their green to time and weather. It is the natural cycle of life”
