Derwent Water, Keswick

£1,650.00

‘Derwent Water, Keswick’ is an original oil painting by Cumbrian artist Maria Burton.

Wooden ash frame. On canvas, no glass.

in the artist’s words: “Approaching gently from Borrowdale or Keswick, the water sits broad and long, surrounded by relatively low fells but with the mighty Skiddaw overlooking it at the Northern end. Walking past the rowing boats and the boathouse near Keswick, entering the small wooded area on Friars, crag, you reach a point where the view opens and a sense of peace envelopes you.As the early morning mists begin to fade, they reveal Castle Crag and across the water, the sound of geese calling often breaks the air. At times, in pairs, especially when the water is calm, the geese will take to the air in pairs, staying low, close to the surface, calling as they fly around back from whence you came. This view is one to savour, quietly, attentively, slowly”
