We are delighted to present Chris Mouncey’s ‘A Lakeland Journey’, a beautiful body of work that takes us on a visual journey around the local landscape. Chris has been painting in watercolours since 1980 and in that time developed a true mastery of this sometimes challenging medium. He achieves an astounding level of detail along with a delicious depth of colour in his work, creating light filled landscapes that you almost feel you could step into, and a distinctive style that is undoubtedly his. Chris has exhibited in various leading galleries across the country and has work in public and private collections both within the UK and further afield.
Chris draws his inspiration from landscapes and the wild places that he loves, including of course, the wonderful Lake District. He strives to capture the feeling of these favourite places in his work, seen in his soft depictions of gentle light reflected on water and dramatic streams of sun across Lakeland valleys. This part of the world is notorious for it’s ever changing, dramatic weather and Chris captures this beautifully, using flashes of blue in otherwise dark skies, or perhaps adding delicate clouds skimming across peaks that evoke the movement and changeability of a Lake District landscape perfectly. This stunning exhibition is one not to be missed!
