After having lived in Cumbria for over thirty years, Emma has now relocated Kirkcudbright, Dumfries in Galloway. Her work is a collections of abstract works, Lakeland scenes, and seascapes inspired by her time on the Galloway coast and further afield. Her work is truly transcendent and other-worldly as she exposes and explores a deep semi-conscious method of communicating with the landscape. She believes her work enables her to translate her journey and visions without the use of words, instead choosing the brush as her narrative. Due to this, she offers a personal, intuitive, and creative interpretation of the beautiful fells of Cumbria.
“It is not a wish to be different or even to stand out or simply to produce something desirable. It is a deep yearning to create, to be true to my mind’s eye, translating the landscape as I perceive it, telling a story of the land, sea and sky using colour, texture, form and depth, rather as if it were words in her journal.” - Emma J Lock
