When God made the Egyptians give pursuit of the Israelites through the Red Sea, He sent a pillar of fire and smoke to separate the two peoples. These pillars hindered the sight of the Egyptians, but aided the sight of the Israelites, thus allowing them to cross safely.
This piece is like a monument to the miracles of God. Named ‘Open Water’ it is easy to see how it symbolises the crossing of the Red Sea by God’s children.
