These terms and conditions regulate the business relationship between you the customer and us Northern Lights Gallery. By using our website in any way, or by buying from us, you agree to be bound by them.

Placing an Order

To be eligible to purchase items on this website you must be over 18 years of age, and have an address where items can be delivered to in the United Kingdom (PO box numbers and hotels are not acceptable) or abroad.

To be able to process your order we require your name, address, e-mail address, a contact phone number and credit/debit card details. This information is passed to Sage Pay to enable card authorisation. Sage Pay is the most recommended provider of online payment services in the UK. Transaction information passed to Sage Pay is kept secure at all times by using SSL encryption technology in compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PC1 DSS). Our website is working in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998. By using Sage Pay we do not collect or store sensitive information on our website making it much more secure. Payment in full must be made before goods are dispatched.

The contact telephone number is useful so that we can reach you if there is a problem with the order. This information may be given to our couriers in case they need to contact you about delivery.

Unfortunately, we cannot fulfil any obligations if the product you ordered becomes out of stock, if we are unable to obtain authorisation for your payment, or if a product or pricing description error is identified.

You will receive an email once you have placed your order giving you all the details and a reference number. Please quote this reference number in any correspondence. A contract is concluded when the consumer becomes bound to buy something and the business becomes bound to supply it. We will send you a second email confirming the goods are in stock and the likely delivery date. This email will be deemed to be the point at which we have accepted your offer to buy and the contract will be complete.

Product Pricing and Descriptions

Prices are all in pounds sterling and each product is sold subject to its Product Description. Whilst we endeavour to do this as accurately as possible it is affected by the technology available. All dimensions quoted will be to the nearest centimetre. The colour of the original item may differ from that shown on your screen. None of the work is mass produced therefore there might be slight variations in design and colour.


Payment can be made using our online facility with a valid credit or debit card. By giving details of your card you confirm that the card being used belongs to you. Alternatively, payment can be made by credit/debit card over the telephone by calling 017687 75402. If the payment is not authorised for any reason we will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery of goods. All orders must be paid for in full before dispatch.


Delivery Charges

The delivery charges are for UK mainland only (excluding the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland and UK islands). For charges worldwide please email elainebrett@northernlightsgallery.co.uk to obtain a quote. Some items are not considered suitable for posting but may be picked up from the gallery. Once payment is received there is no time limit for collecting work.

Delivery Times

Customer service is very important to us so goods will be sent as soon as we can. The maximum for UK deliveries would be 28 days but many items would be within 7 – 10 days. Please email the gallery if we need to meet a deadline for delivery and we will do everything we can to achieve it. Once an order has been received details of delivery will be confirmed by email.

Delivery Method

We use an excellent national courier service APC and Royal Mail, depending on type and size of goods ordered. Occasionally other couriers may be used if it is more economical to do so. Larger paintings and paintings with glass will be delivered by a specialist art courier company called Aardvark Art Services. The cost reflects their personal service where paintings are handled only by people and not machines and delivery is guaranteed.

Delivery Details

It is obviously important that delivery address details are correct. Hence, we can't be held responsible for any problems that may arise if this is not the case. A signature is often required on delivery so if this is not possible and alternative arrangements have been requested, such as leaving with a neighbour this is at your own risk. Where it is not possible to sign for a parcel yourself for whatever reason we cannot guarantee delivery.

Returns and Refunds

We will do everything to ensure that you are happy with your purchase but understand that occasionally you may wish to return an item. Please let us know no later than 7 days after you received the item, in writing or by email if you wish to return them with the reference number and reason for return. Returns must be made by you within 7 days from receipt with original packaging and in good condition. (Failure to return the goods by you may result in a charge to you for the direct cost for their recovery). Providing the returned goods are received in good condition the purchase price will be refunded including the original delivery costs no later than 30 days from receipt. I regret that we are unable to offer free returns at this time.

If you consider the product to be faulty and we agree we will pay return delivery costs.

In the unlikely event that artwork has been damaged in transit please photograph packaging if possible and retain all the original packing material. Please call 017687 75402 or email elainebrett@northernlightsgallery.co.uk so we can arrange for it to be picked up and inspected.

When returning goods please use an insured method of despatch and obtain proof of posting as we cannot accept liability for goods being lost or damaged in transit.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our priority and we will not share any information with third parties unless required to do so by law. Our website has been designed to facilitate secure online purchasing in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998.

However, we cannot accept responsibility for the security of other sites linked to Northern Lights Gallery.

We will do all we can to ensure that your personal details, details of your order and payment are secure. However, in the absence of negligence on our part we cannot be liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party procures unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering from our website.
